Website Planning
The first step in every project, and especially when building a website, is to comprehensively break down the information architecture and functionality.
This step is probably the most important step of the building process and will be the basis of the whole project. The quality of the website "plan", which is produced in this phase, is the key to the success of the project, and will be the major factor that effects the project's total cost and schedule.
We will work with you through this process and together we will describe and define every element of the website. The result of this phase will be the Information Architecture Document.
Information Architecture Document
The Information Architecture Document of the website describes in detail every functional and interactive element of the website. This characterization will be done in every aspect such as visuals, information flow, error handling, technology and more. It will answer a lot of open questions that we know, from our experience, will crop up when building such websites.
The document is used to work out all of the small but important functions in the website. Some examples:
- Account login information, registration, forgotten passwords
- Email confirmations
- Site security
- Error messages and confirmation messages of all types
- What information will be handled by the content management system (admin system for easily add/edit/delete content)
- Empty bucket scenarios (what things will look like when there isn't data available)
